I didn't think I'd ever say this again - A New Vid!!!
A slight obsession with the BBC's Merlin, particularly Morgana (and especially Morgana/Gwen) has led to my first vid in a year! It's to 'Come To Me' by Catie Curtis and the links/embedded vid are (hopefully!) below, so here you go -

Isaac knew what he was talking about....
Newton's third law - For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Thus... I had a good couple of months at the end of last year when I could actually vid again. And it was fun. Now it's February and I've been suffering very badly with my RSI for about six weeks. Vidding is not an option. Actually, just using a PC is literally a pain. And it is so not fun.

I never did like physics.....

Anyway, as I am trying to put off doing boring things that I don't want to do have a little time on my hands and as I no longer have my websites I've just uploaded a load of old vids to my YouTube account , including a couple of Buffys, all five (very old) Blake's 7 vids and my one-and-only Farscape and Firefly vids.

So drop in and have a look if you feel so inclined! :)

New Vid
I made a vid for Passion & Perfection's '5000' celebrations and as well as being available for download from the P&P site it is now also up on YouTube.

It's a multi-fandom vid (the first one I've done in all my many years of vidding!) called 'Falling In Love' and features clips from Buffy, Xena, Hex, and more.

The vid is here

Icon testing... apologies to 'The Sound of Music'
Apologies for spamming my flist, but over the past 2 days I've tried to learn how to create animated icons and am just seeing if it worked...

Bedwyr I know you're on dial-up so you'll have to let me know if it takes too long to download on such!

A new vid!!!
Well, wonders will never cease. Over the course of the last 5 or 6 weeks I've found myself obsessing over a new (to me) fandom - CSI, more specifically the Sara/Sofia relationship, thanks to the wonderful fanfic writers I've discovered on or through LJ. I do so love angst and the resolution thereof and this couple certainly have the capability for it in abundance! Anyway, the muse awoke, the PC crashed only slightly more than often, and the RSI held off long enough to create what appears to be my first new vid in 2 years!

It's to (an edited down version of) 'Angels Would Fall' by Melissa Etheridge and is now residing on YouTube .

A downloadable version is available as a zipped 36MB Divx5 file here. Right-click and 'Save As'.

Can I just take this opportunity to thank all the Sara/Sofia writers out there - in my manic fic-reading spree over the past few weeks I've read so many good stories and have been terribly remiss in giving feedback - so thank you!

Remastered vids
Just a quick note that I've remastered a couple of my Xena vids ('Angels' and 'Desire'). Unfortunately there's problems with my site at the moment, but if you like streaming versions they can be found on My imeem page and my freshly put-to-use YouTube page.

Vid Remastering...
OK, so the RSI is *not* going to go away any time soon (if at all), but as I discovered a couple of weeks ago that Ausxip is holding a 10th birthday video competition I decided to try and remaster 'The Different' slowly (very) but surely whilst not over-taxing my wrist/arm. And (wonders will never cease) I seem to have accomplished it! All I have to do now is remember how to access/update my webpage (it's not been touched for a looooong time and I never was much good at the web side of things in the first place) and get it 'out there'.

The only thing is the process has reminded me of how much I used to love doing vids and the temptation to try and remaster another is nigh-on overwhelming...

Well, I just watched the BAFTA's which I'd taped last night, and for the first time in a long while not only had actually watched some of the programmes nominated, but approved of some of the winners!!!

Bleak House - never did I think I would sit, riveted to the TV twice a week for umpteen episodes, to watch a Charles Dickens dramatisation!! (Note: I have nothing against Dickens, it's just not usually my cup of tea). So I was pleased to see it win an award for Best Drama Serial, and one for Anna Maxwell Martin (Best Actress), with Gillian Anderson also nominated.

Better still - Doctor Who. Best Drama Series *and* the Pioneer Audience Award for the Best Programme of 2005. !!! :)

And then, to top it all off, the Dennis Potter Award (for Television Writing) went to Russell T Davies. I remember watching the children's TV series 'Dark Season' and 'Century Falls' way back at the beginning of the 90's and thinking they were really rather good. Little did I know that years later I would watch the likes of the groundbreaking 'Queer As Folk' and the brilliant 'Second Coming' by the same writer, who would then go on to revitalise one Sci-Fi's greatest series. Brilliant.

And he kissed his boyfriend on TV in front of millions of people. RTD, I applaud you.

Let's try this....
From dz_crasher .

The instructions:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Take one that's actually next to you.

This Fomorii-like fighter, doubtless a cousin of the the violent and misshapen Irish sea gods, ordered Cynon to go to a fountain and fill with water a silver bowl that he would find there, and then to throw the water against a marble slab.

RSI update. And Hex.
Well, three months off of work have whizzed by and I'm now certified by the doctor to go back to work on Monday. I've been building up using my PC at home (as advised by the doctor) and can now manage a couple of hours of computer stuff so he's signed me back for half days for the first week and then we'll see how it goes. I'm not looking forward to it though - I've always found it bad enough going back after 2 weeks holiday.....

Over the past few evenings I finally got around to watching Season 1 of Hex - and was pleasantly surprised. I'm now 3 episodes into the Second Season and wondering if it can be as good as the first. Which leads me to a request... if anyone knows where I can acquire an mp3 of the theme to Hex I'd be most grateful - I've tried legal download sites (and some not-so-legal one's) and I've yet to find it - it's the Goth Remix of Number One Crush by Garbage. Any help would be most appreciated!!!

RSI....... and a Firefly vid
RSI is a pain in the...... well, arm actually. But in the neck figuratively, as it's practically put a stop to my vidding since July. All very frustrating as I'm now starting to acquire decent source material for so many of the fandoms I've enjoyed over the years, along with some ideas on what to do with it. *sigh* Anyway, over the course of the last 2 months I've managed to put a vid together piece by tiny piece, in half hour slots that are my self-imposed 'PC time limit', and have finally finished it.

It's a short, but hopefully sweet Firefly vid to a song that could have been made for Serenity and it's crew - 'Strange Boat' by The Waterboys. I have yet to link the vid to the main page of my website, so please feel free to forward the URL of the vid's own page to anyone who might be interested. The footage is all from the TV series so there's no spoilers for the new film.

Firefly - Strange Boat

I hope you enjoy it.........

Farscape.... and so it ends.....
I finally got around to watching Peacekeeper Wars over the past 2 evenings as part of the usual last ditch attempt to enjoy the final couple of days of my summer holiday before the demon that is Work rears it's ugly head again.

Just in case of spoilage...Collapse )

Hmm...
If there are such things as multiple spacetime dimensions (don't worry - I've just come across and tried to read a webpage of an Idiot's Guide to String Theory and failed miserably), does that mean there's one where Susan and Talia did have a happy ending?

And if so does that dimension have an Amazon so I can order the DVDs.....

I am not a writer, but
this little Babylon 5 piece came into my mind a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't let me go until I'd written it to the best of my ability - it's no great shakes but it needs to go somewhere, so here 'tis....

Storm WarningCollapse )

.... apologies to any real writers out there who happen across it!!

Home again....
Time really is relative. How can two weeks go by so quickly when it's taken ages for the (now in the past) holiday to get here?!

Ah well.. a thoroughly relaxing fortnight was had, spent wandering around a Welsh mountainside and doing... well, not much at all really. I did manage to read Harry Potter & The Halfblood Prince (don't worry - I'm not going to discuss it and spoil anyone who hasn't read it yet) - which I enjoyed immensely and found much easier to 'get into' than Order of the Pheonix.

The lure of just sitting in the sunshine (Yes! There was sunshine in Wales!) watching the world go by meant I ended up doing practically nothing of what I'd planned - reading (except the HBP), writing, listening to the huge collection of mp3s waiting for me on my iRiver, watching various DVDs I'd taken along.... but due to the lounging around in the garden I did have a very close encounter with a wild ('wild -it was livid') sparrowhawk which I wouldn't have swapped for any of that. :)

The TV reception on Welsh mountainsides is not that brilliant, but I managed to see the first 2 episodes of 'Lost' and am looking forward to the rest - well, actually I may just cheat and download them instead of waiting for Channel 4 to show it as they've treated 'cult' programmes appallingly in the past and I wouldn't be surprised if they mucked about with this one too.

Ah well, I'd better go and get stuff sorted... it's back to work tomorrow... :(

Holiday!!
Right, that's it - the bags are packed and the car is as ready as it's going to be for the drive up to Wales!

Back in two weeks!

Not fair...
So - I have only 2 more days at work, then it's off to Wales to spend two weeks in a cottage halfway up a small mountainside with no neighbours and no telephone. Just me, my SO, some printed fanfic, a portable DVD player and lots of music. And fate chooses now to give me a cold and a ridiculously sore throat.

As I said... not fair. :(
